Hi,
I was wondering about the dimention of the zimmerit, I mean the dimention of a single rectangle of the zimmerit coat for the German ranks 1/16.
I recently bought a tool (trumpeter) but I have the impression that he rectangles I can do in the putty are too small.
May somebody, tell me how big are the single rectangles in mm (h, l) ??

Thank you for your precious replies.

Hi mate not sure what style zimmerit your doing but when I did my Stug III in the waffle pattern zimmerit (which is squares) . I looked at an original tank with the same zimmerit , counted the squares on the various areas and made the same impression on my tank .

The Trumpeter zimmerit applicator is almost certainly for 1/35 scale... Whar sort of pattern for which sort of tank are you after?

HI,
tank for the memory, The tank is a king tiger HL 1/16, The trumpeter tool have two different forms, small and large, I supposed that the large one was for the 1/16, due to the fact that trumpeter have in the gamma also 1/16 tanks I tought was the right one.

thanks in advance for your reply!

Hi Andy,

thanks fort your reply.
Actually I don't have the chance to have parked next to my place a King tiger to see how the zimmerit was!!
I saw from different pictures that the zimmerit is done as a rectanguar pattern, not square for the KT.
I just need the dimention and I will try to do it some how.

Cheers,

Gianfranco.

I think what he meant is, find a photo of the particular tank and pattern you are trying to recreate and go from there. On my StuG, there's a few nice photos of the waffle pattern, especially on the glacis. The squares are 12 across and 2 high on the front plate, so you can simply plot it out. Once you have that figured out, just use the same size everywhere else. There's no need for dimensions that way, which would be hard to find since they aren't consistent.
