I have a S&S Tiger which has developed a problem - the left motor runs slower than the right and is not giving proportional turn, whilst the right side transitions between speeds correctly.

I've just fitted a new RX13, thinking this would fix the problem but now I'm thinking faulty receiver. Any thoughts on this would be helpful.

Oh yeah, all other functions work fine. and I swapped the motors around in case one was duff.

Hi Recoil I take it we are talking about turret motor 2 reasons why it turns one way faster than the other 1st is a bad conection on to motor could be solder joint on board or motor 2nd is the surface the turret rotates round has something sticking to it jamming it when it goes round but falls flat when going the other way should be clean could even be paint also check the drive ring for sharpe edges .

i thought he was talking about the gearboxes pete, as there aren't 2 turret motors for turning it LOL

i have had this problem before, but mine i think was just a tight track

Several things to watch for.

-could be stripped final drive gear if you have plastic gears

-If you've swapped motors and only the left side is having problems open the radio and check the contacts

-same as above but check running gear for resistance

-check the gearbox for too much resistance over right one.

Might sound a little silly but did you try trimming them out with the trim levers next to the steering joy-stick.This may cure the problem
and you did not mention trying that.

re the speed difference. As already mentioned check the trims. If they are ok, and its a new tank, then my first thought would be tight gearboxes. Does it run in a straight line or veer off to one side?

If they are metal gears then these often need bedding in and they should be greased ( I use motorcycle chain lube, it contains a solvent so it sprays on as a liquid and penetrates everywhere and then the solvent evaporates leaving non-fling grease where it should be).

If the gears are ok then check for loose wheels.

If the wheels are ok then check the wiring.

If all else fails try swapping the motors over (pain to do) as this will tell you if its the motors or not.

and when the RX13 board blows, buy an RX14, or even better an RX18, they are all compatible but the last two are a lot more durable.
