and I thought I was an old bugger
They shall not grow old as we who are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM

Think there are a few of us old buggers about on here grompix. I must have been sat next to you in the cimema because I was blown away too, just had to shut my dad up muttering bleeding tiger tanks my ar--.
This film and my dads interest got me hooked at an early age, never looked back. Just think of all those 2 bobs spent on airfix kits..........

Airfix! Now there's a topic of converstation ABO. I too spent most of my youth (and meagre pocket-money) on Airfix kits. Mostly tanks(of course) but I cut my modelling teeth on building those kits. I used to avidly read the minimal historical info on the back of each stapled poly bag (no boxes then). I graduated onto the Airfix monthly magazine and followed all the conversion and scratch-building guides. Airfix must have had by far the biggest influence on me as a youth. I still love building models and I still have all those Airfix magazines on my bookshelves (sad or what?).ABO wrote: This film and my dads interest got me hooked at an early age, never looked back. Yeah I remember those bags, aaaaaah, the good ol days! Can't remember how young I was when I started but I could give the glue genie at Heng long a good run for his money! Those mags must be worth a few bob now, bet they bring back a few old memories too. I don't think I could model in 1/72nd any more, me poor old eyes couldn't see the bits!

Its rather nice to regale tales from before the inventings of the pc and internet! Well, I may not even be out of education but even I spent my youth building airfix tanks ships, and the odd plane.
Your Pershing will stand no chance against my tank.
After a long time away...I have returned.
