A few months ago I picked up a bargain buy off ebay. This HL M26 S&S for a total of £5 not had much time to do any work on it with other builds etc. So this week I finally started it.
First job replace the stock motors with some decent graupner speed 400 ones. I ran them in for 3 hours at half battery voltage before installing them in the stock plastic gearboxes. Also the tank had the RX13 board so replaced that with a RX18.
Now at some point in it's life the tank had been stood on
Which had crack the turret and damaged the airsoft. So I stripped the turret down replaced the airsoft with one I had spare added the micro switch as the previous one didn't have one and glued the turret back together.
Quick test run and everything is working great.
Apart from trying to make the crack in the turret look like a welded battle repair I've not really figured what I do to this tank yet.

The H.L. Pershing is a good tank . You can do a lot with it ...
I've done a few mods on mine so far ...Like a 360 degrees turret ( using a slip ring) and installed an Asiatam recoil unit using the stock air-soft gun barrel ...
I also made my own track tensioners ( they've been working great so far )...http://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/v ... =22&t=9366
All depends of the time and money your ready to spend in it .

Like it.
How did you covert to recoil using the airsoft barrel? Definately interested in doing that.

Sorry for the delay ...I have a few pictures that I took when doing the mod...I plan to post the complete mod. later when I modify the unit to get smoke coming out of the main gun ...This was the main purpose of installing an Asiatam recoil unit in my Pershing ...
I got bolder for this mod. because I have an old non smoke&sound Pershing that I keep for spare parts ....The first step is to get the elevation to work right ...Once you get the recoil in the right position for the elevation , the rest is easier ...
The problem with the Pershing gun is the conical shape of the gun at the mantlet ...It needs some tubing to guide strait ....

Thanks Strmnd54,
I was thinking of using a modified HL recoil unit as I've a Asiatam recoil in my Tiger and not massively impressed with it.

On my Pershing the machine gun LED was just a flashing LED under a plastic gun.
So bought one of these Taigen machine guns (it's for a Tiger)
In the flesh it is actually a lot bigger than it looks on the picture.
Here's it next to the Pershing plastic gun.
Simply cut old one off, drilled hole through for new metal machine gun, some putty to fill hole and quick dab of paint.
Job done.
Also I had previous glued the cracked turret. So decided to add some putty to try make it look like in battle weld lines.

That's almost exactly what my PERSHING's (lollie girl pink ) turret looked like ...except the crack/ hole was more to the right...wish I had a camera back when I restored her...yours looks a little more problematic because it went up the side of the cupola
