need help ,is there a alternative to the unreliable rc units rx18 board and the rest, that is reliable but not to expensive.

Hi there these no real cheep way of getting rid of the rx18. But if you wanted to replace it I would go for the SLU sound to lite unit! This replaces all the electronics! And comes with realistic sounds gun fire and you can turn your lites on and off from the hand set! You will have to get a new handset as with the SLU it runs on a standard 4 channel radio set so you could even go for 2.4ghz hand set! The SLU cost around £130 plus the price of a hand set wich you can get for as little as £30 pounds with reciver oh and it allso comes with tamiya compatable IR battle system! There is other makes out there and I'm sure other members will come forth and give there ideas two ! Hope that helps you a bit! Gary. :thumbup:Oh!! And are you North or south!

I have found the RX18 unit to be very reliable, are you sure you are not thinking of the older versions, if you take simple precautions like putting fuses in the motor circuits to prevent blowing them if you have a jammed track they work well.
To get an alternative RC set up you will have to spend a lot more than the cost of an RX18, receiver board and transmitter.

For the cost of a few pounds you can't beat the RX18. I've had tanks running on 9.6v battery packs and no damage. Also got one tank with 5amp 480 motors in again the RX18 just takes it with out complaint. And I've even shorted wires out whilst working on the tank turned on had a strong electronic burning smell but still 100% functional. So I can't see why you say unrealiable.

Then next available alternative is the SLU like Gary says or the ElMod but with out sound. Both are over £100 needs a certain amount knowledge to rewire it all in, plus you need alternative transmitter and receiver.
