Hey guys,
For the Tiger 1 experts out there, I am wondering what size styrene I could use to make the Mounting Lugs for the side skirts on my HL Tiger. I have removed, thinned and damaged some of the skirting but before I start the Zimmerit, I would like to fab and mount these lugs. Any detailed pics and advice on realism would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi Derek,
Here are some drawings on the side skirts, and from theses I think that you can effectively work out the dimensions that you need and then simply divide it by 16 to give you the scale sizes. I think that you can probably say that the mounting 'blocks on the hull for the side skirts measure ...25 mm deep by 40 mm from top to bottom... ( You have to subtract the thickness of the skirt metal at 5mm thick from the dimensions in Davids drawings )... so in scale 1.5625mm deep by 2.5mm from top to bottom.
The drawings are taken from this site by 'David Byrden' ......It is a really excellent site with just about EVERY drawing and change that was made to the Tiger 1, with
Incredible detail and accuracy....
.
The black and white photos show that the mounting blocks are square...and the last two colour photos from Saumur Museum in France show that they are definitely square and also how much of it protrudes above the zimmerit paste, once it is applied. If you work on the size of a 40mm square for the mounting block then you will be pretty close... 2.5mm in scale.

Hey Alb,
Thanks for the quick and accurate response, much appreciated. That site you refer to is very interesting, been on there before. Now I have to find some styrene and get this added detail on. Thanks again.
