If got the mato ones in mine but the brass drive shafts are too thin and bend too easy.

Also got the Asiatam 3:1 in another tank and not blown away with them either as basically same as HL metal ones with an extra cog.

I've been recommended the new Asiatam gearbox with the black metal gears and upgraded 18,000 rpm motors but not boaught any yet.

i have a set of the black steel gears in my tiger, changed the upper hull quite a bit and it's doubled the weight. No problems moving up, over and through most stuff. Batteries drain fast but the steel gears don't quit

Hello,
I also have a taigen HL tiger 1 asiatam lower metal hull, metal wheels (late) and track and additional metal upgrades. The factory installed metal gears have failed (after 2 months of heavy use and also that track recoil action when firing did some damage me thinks). I have purchased an anti-track recoil device and also the taigen 4:1 metal gear box from Welsh Dragon. I will let you know how things work out. The gear box should be installed very shortly.
cheers!

O yes the track recoil is a killer for gearboxes. Forgot to mention I have twin RX18 to stop the track recoil in my heavy Tiger.

I just got a Mako board and ATRC from RC Tank Australia ($45Aus) with free shipping so about £30. You don't need the Mako unless your into IR battling with Tamiya and WSM/Torro tanks but makes wiring the the ATRC dead simply plug and play. Otherwise need to solder a signal wire from somewhere on the bottom of the RX18. If you check out the RC TAnk Australia forum there is a post/guide showing how to install and even make your own ARTC if you handy with electronics.

Ian.

Welsh dragon sell a unit that stops the recoil, its a version of the ATRC that Tankbear referred to but comes from Tank Modelbau in Germany its called the ARM unit.

I bought my Anti Track Recoil device from rctanksaustralia This link should take you right to it:
http://rctanksaustralia.com/shop/index. ... ucts_id=18
its 17.50$ US dollars FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE (i added a decal purchase and there was no additional charge on shipping/as expected)
The installation guide is a pdf filed downloaded from that webpage
I have not installed it yet.
I have installed the 4:1 taigen gearbox which looks identical in everyway to the original one that came with my tiger, although it does seems to generate a slower more realistic pace of the tank...so i am happy with it even though I am still wondering if it was the same as the factory installed (I bought the 4:1 from Welsh)
