Hi all
Glad I found this site, people seem to know there stuff on here!
I have a heng long tiger 1 non smoking & sound version that has stopped working. I have made sure all batteries are fully charged, tried a different battery and controller but to no avail. Opened up the tank and checked aerial and solders and all look good. The lights came on at one point and also flashed, had a track running also.
I think it could be main circuit board.
Hope you can help
Thanks mike

This link will take you to a Post which contains information for trouble shooting the RX-18 control unit and the tanks functions.
http://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/s ... 18+DIAGRAM
As NON-SMOKE AND SOUND tank it may not be equipped with this CPU? The diagram will allow you a reference to determine if the Tank has this unit or the older CPU.

Hi Mike,
Its always difficult to diagnose problems from a 'distance'............... but the 'crystals' in the receiver/ transmitter can be a cause of non running. If you remove the transmitter and receiver crystals and very lightly bend the two legs this can often make a better contact with the circuit boards and suddenly things all start working again. Its worth a try before you buy a new board. Also just check that the 3 wire lead that connects the receiver board to the main board is properly connected at either end.
You have pretty much covered the other possibilities so if it does end up being a new board then I would suggest that you go for the RX 18 version. It is a great deal better than the earlier boards and if the casing is 'opened up' on the top and sides with a small computer fan added to the top then it is pretty well bomb proof! ( even if you add larger and more powerful motors)
Attached is a picture of the RX 18 board, showing where the various parts connect to it...... The only problem is that you will need to buy the correct plugs to solder onto the motors etc so that they can be plugged in.

Thanks guys for the quick replys, this version doesn't seem to have crystals. My other s&s tiger does quite clearly.
Also I didn't know I could put an rx18 board in this, will need to get correct leads tho aswell.
Cheers

You can put the rx-18 into the non smoke and sound tank but it's not a straight swap, you'll need the rx-18 complete with wiring, reciever board, set of crystals and a transmitter, think that covers it someone will correct me if i'm wrong

Hi as the guys have said getting the RX 18 is the best option now you can get the rx18 off eBay for around £18 with all wires but! You will then need the reciver board and a new transmitter!!! Now there's a guy on eBay selling a complet it's the IR version New! And you get the rx18 and reciver and all the wires plus the flash unit the IR emitter and apple and the hand set!! Everything you need and all for £35 a bargin! Hope that helps

Before you spend money changing boards is the frequency the same on the tank as it is on the receiver try different frequencies.

The old non smoke and sound board is the TK01 board which uses the ABC frequencies, I have found that working the switch a few times then trying the different frequencies one at a time usually gets control back, but ultimately I have upgraded all mine to the RX18 as you can do so much more with it.
