Ok well I have been playing with the henlong smoke units for a time now and after reading tiger205s post on the HL unit got me thinking and I ve basically built my own from odds and sods you have gathered after years of modeling and DIY so this weekend I built it up and fitted it in my KT and have videoed the result and would now like some feedback from you all to see if it can be improved because I have to build another 2 at least if there is enough interest I will do a step by step guide in the tips & tricks section so opinions invited
enjoy the movie

Hi Tony I used a small 2a esc I had knocking around and a y lead on the throttle channel that controls the fan and the element is powered off the main battery via switch when it is in the on postion it powers both fan and element but can switch the whole unit off if required the only catch is that it dont work in reverse (yet)lol got to test it on differrent fluids now to try and get a better colour from the smoke, it seems to be able to smoke anything I have put in it so far
lol

thats brilliant, would it work on elmod equiped tanks/, i ask because i know little about electronics, my mrs is on a few dog forums, and one of the members, a guy called mark, is a pyrotechnician, i'll get the mrs to ask if there is anything we can add to the smoke oil to give it a better colour

I dont know about the ElMod not had anything to do with them as yet but if it works on a standard receiver then its a yes . basically its an element sitting on a wick in a tube with the fan speed controlled via the throttle, been looking at action kits esc and they do 1 that will supply the fan power via rx power but could really do with an adjustable neutral to just have the fan turning slowly at idle

that looks good, to me it dont matter what it looks like as long as it does the job well, the smoker i modded used a brass propellor from a rc boat, but mine was a modded hl smoker, youres takes it farther scratchbuilding one, the much better option i think, did you think about using a boat propellor instead of a fan? ive found a prop' is much more effcient, and more compact, when you do youre write up i may go youre route of scratchbuilding one and putting one in my Tiger, which has all elmod in it, so hurry up with the write up

It was after reading your post on the HL smoker that gave me the idea and as for being more compact that fan measures 17mmx 17mm x 10mm it is tiny and only £4.99 from maplins it was the only thing I had to buy I am skint now LOL
