I just saw this advertised at £134 inc vat. They look and perform quite well and are cheaper than the elmod route. Does anybody use this or have any reviews about it. I'm interested in knowing if this is useable with a heng long system.

I think these are licensed from Beier Electronics as it is identical to the USM-RC http://www.beier-electronic.de/modellbau/index.php I bought the newer USM-RC2 and so far as I can tell it's a great sound card. They also do one specifically for the Heng Long tanks which is pretty cool. Downside is that their purchasing system is pretty archaic, shortly after purchasing mine they posted a manual in english which was a bonus as google translate was looking like a sloooow route to success.

Is it easy to connect up to the tank or do you need a crash course in micro electronics :P

how do you rate the beier against the tamiya set ups? , we know how good all the tamiya boards sound, and i know the beier you can add new sounds, but how good are they?

hello,

@Se7eN
it's so easy, no soldering is needed, only connect two cables and is ready to run. The 'complex' part is to customize the sounds to your liking, she comes with a lot of profiles, but i wanted to do my own ;-)

@boxerdog
a friend of mine owns a tamiya Tiger, his sound is louder (more amps), but the possiblity of made your own sets of sounds and that your tank would sound 'unique' is a big poin to beier. Also, if i was a tamiya owner, i will haven't bought the beier, because it was the awful HL sound my main concern. To me, both sound great, but i was'nt interested in swap the HL electronics for the tamiya's one only for the sound, so my decision was easy... :-)

if you want to, you can hear my custom sounds here

well, it sounds better from 'inside' ;-)

you are welcome, Se7eN !

remember, the USM-HL is the Beier version for HL electronics! You have to connect the beier between the RX board and the RX18 board and that is all

good choice IMHO

Thanks for the heads up. I don't have I.R at the moment, but this information will be useful in the future.
the USM-HL is the Beier version for HL electronics
I will look out for this version as I don't think im gonna be using the soundboard for anything other then my Taigen tank. Do you have any dealers that sell this?
