THis may have been discussed before but do all sound and smoke Heng Long tanks have the RX 18 boards? There are a few sellers both on EBay and hobby sites that state sound/smoke but only 2 forward and reverse speeds. I thought the tank with sound/smoke had to have the RX 18 board. Being fairly new,I' m confused. No sense in buying a tank if you need to replace the board right away.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Jack

Hi Jack,

If the tank is S&S it have either an RX14 or RX18 and come in a white box (the tank not the electronics). But with out opening up the tank you never know, but the RX18 has been out for many years now so good chance it will be that version.

The RX18 has slow and fast forward reverse (2 speed) not certain if the RX14 does.

Hope that helps clear up any confusion.

Ian.

Ian,

Thanks for the information. I guess the best way to be sure is to use Phil at Rctankwars.com.

The RX13 board is also smoke and sound and two speed, all wires are soldered on to that board, the RX14 has plug in connections again the two speeds and the RX18 is all plug in and comes in a plastic case, this one is proportional i.e. speed gradually increases the more you push the lever. This board is also the one you need for the IR unit if you want to battle.
The non smoke and sound board is the TK01 this type has the 6 demo mode button and the transmitter has only 3 channels A,B,C. All the smoke and sound boards have a separate receiver board with interchangeable crystals giving 10 channels by using different crystals.

Thanks for the help guys. I have a Jagdpanther coming from Phil with metal 3;1 gears, tracks, wheels, and converted to 2.4ghz so I can use my DX7. It is infrared and will be Tamiya compatible. He is also sending the wiring to convert my Taigen Tiger ! air soft to 2.4 ghz. Phil seems to be a very knowledable guy on tanks. Next up for the Tanks, El Mod! Again, thanks for the help.
