I've asked elswhere, not a clear answer.
I've got my first tank coming, Mato metal up grade M41
Is this upgrade trany the Mato 2.0 ? If so sounds like it should be
worked on before I even start.
Do I need a fan for the stock motors?
Why a brake in period to seat brushes?
Thanks for any help

Hi Tapkoote,
If your putting in lower ratio gearboxes the motors are actually not working as hard so you should be ok without a cooling fan.
The running motors in is to bed in the bushes so makes better contact. In pratice I've only done this with new motors as the instruction said so, all other gearboxes and tanks I've just run out of the box so to speak.
It is also good idea to run new gearboxes in before putting in tank to help bed the teeth to each other with out extra strain of moving tank along. About an hour directly connected to the battery should be ok.
With the mato gearboxes (brass ones at least) make sure you put plenty of lube as the gears can seize on the shaft.

Some electric racers run their motors in under water, and swear that they then run better, the water lubing the comutaters so getting a fine polish on them hench smoother running as you do when using wet and dry emery paper

Thanks guys
Nick, this water break in of new motors is

puzzling.
For many decades I've been tought not to mix water and electricy.
Evidently it works out Ok, but i wonder the mindset of the very first person to try it? LOL
thanks again
