has anyone got a pic showing the top of a porsche KT turret? want to find out the positions of the sockets on the top for the crane legs and the gas detector mounts. if anyone has a blueprint or knows of a link that would be cool.

The three sockets on the Porsche Kingtiger turet are one on the loaders hatch side roughtly centre of the hatch , the other two are cupola side front ones in the centre of the front armour plate section the rears just of centre of the rear armour plate closer to the cupola all mounted just inside the weld seam. I thought they were to mount a crane for maintenance . Im usure if the Porsche Kingtiger had the gas detector mounts I will look in my book to mate . Do you mean like the ones on the Pz.IV .

thought they were gas detectors, the raised plates either side at the rear of the turret. thought the s mine launcher wasbehind the loaders hatch. may be wrong though, i frequently am. not sure about the ones on the PzIV :D .

The Henschel turreted Kingtiger production started Jan 44 . The gas detector mounts were fitted from July 44 so unless older Porsche turrets had them added I would say that only Henschel ones had the gas detector mounts ? But anythings possible .
