Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knew or could recomend the best reference books for customising a Tamiya made Sherman kit?. I don't know much about the Sherman (more of a Tiger freak myself) but since joining this site I am picking things up all of the time which is great. I am looking at buying a Tamiya Sherman and want to do a nice accurate custom job on it if I can, so want to do plenty of research first. Its just a great excuse to buy more books on tanks!.

In fact AFV Magazine are just about to publish a stand alone book with about 15 different Sherman variants being modelled. It's on their website.

I have a book called Armored Thunderbolt: The US Army Sherman in WW2, by Steven Zaloga. Awesome book, well over 300 pages full of pictures. You also have Armored Attack by the same author, although that one is about US tanks in WW2 in general, there are loads of Sherman pictures in it.

If you can find it, R.P. Hunnicutt's Sherman: A History of the American Medium Tank is a very detailed resource on the Sherman.
