Mato Sherman upgrade

Hello all,
I have purchased a Mato Sherman (cant afford Tamiya, I'm married) but I find its operation a bit clunky and not truely proportional.
I would appreciate any suggestions on how to alter/change its control system.

First off welcome to the forum, Sherman's are not really my speciality but their are several guys who have done some fine work, don't be concerned with the Tamiya thing,we don't have the Tamiya Snob issue here, really.

The other brands have come a long way in the past two years, your question is to broad, try defining specific details like track motion, boggy movement, the speed issue, stopping and starting. Because gearbox, pinion ratio, track type, and even electronics can alter the way the tank responds and moves.

Check out ODDBALL build,a fine Sherman and a few others who have altered the bogies and tracks to obtain a more realistic driving tank.

And if you would take a moment to Introduce yourself and you may find some member respond better once they have said hello.

cheers Saxondog (Blake)

Am like Sax never done a Sherman. But am sure you will find plenty of members who will guide you along your way.

I agree it is quite 'clunky compared even to a Heng Long system! There are a few options, replace electronics with Heng Long RX-18 probably being cheapest, then after market electronics like YHR's DBC/Benedini system, SLU, and EL-MOD with varying degrees of price and difficulty.
I am yet to take the plunge with changing electronics but RX-18 will probably be the first port of call for me.
Good luck!! :D

Will the Mato speaker work with the RX18?
Don't want a Sherman with a Maybach engine.

It will not matter what type of speaker you use..the better the quaitly the better sound you will get from it.
The only prob comes is size..as in will it fit in there.
Have fun and it well worth the upgrade.
