Boat builder turned model tanker

I orginally started as a model boat builder but have drifted into armour after building my LCM3 and M113 APC (The dozer is built from scrap and was done to give the LCM a decent combat load...i'm afraid it is only a static model, the pound coin should give a good indication of scale). Just in case anyone's wondering yes the LCM will take a tamiya Sherman with ease, however the real LCM3 didn't the LCM6 did

Hi Rob

Just been replying to your last post....

I only do the fibreglass hulls, my LCM has taken 2 years to get as good as i wanted it to be, after doing that there isn't enough money on earth would get me to build another.....

I copied a 1/35th scale trumpeter model my mate had and re-scaled everything up to 1/16, I have increased the draft slightly to give enough bouyancy to cope with a heavy load, mine is fitted with twin 12v motors and a sound system that produces the engine noise (similar to the tanks?). I drew out the plans full size at work and produced a mold plug which a friend (who has a fibreglass business) produced a mould and hull for me. After showing the model I have produced one or two since for people, but in essence the model was for me, unfortunately this version didn't carry a tank hence the Dozer....

Regards

Si

Hi BIGMIG

Thanks for the comments, my little helper gives scale to the hulls, and was happy to pose for the photo, but when it comes to sweeping out the workshop she is nowhere to be found.....
