Excellent job. I'm interested as well. I don't own an airbrush and used brush for painting my first tank.

Thanks for the comments.
Ok will try my best to describe how i done this. As i have no pic's of this when i was painting as my camera had died
This a attempt to show how beginners to spray and weather a tank with very little skills needed, also on a cheap budget,as most of our money has aleady been spent modding the tank.
(colours used was a tolal of 5,mixed to the shades i wanted)
Most of us own a spray gun but all we do is the the main colours then pack it away. Then you see all these realy nice weathed tanks, and say i can't do that.
Well you can.
(am working in water based paint)
Spray the main tank the colour you are going to use. The main thing here is Air on all the time. No making train sounds with your airbrush. I sprayed the main body at around 35 psi.
I did free hand all the camo colours, but you can marsk or use stencils.
Now the whole tank is painted. Now for the fun bit.
Weathering.
Most beginners now run a mile as they don't know how to do it or think they can't. Well its easy. if i pass you a airbrush and say can you paint that hole i have cut out of that paper. I bet most will say yes np.
Well thats just what were going to do for the weathering.
The use of home made stencils. Just get some paper or what ever you want to use. Cut some wavey lines, some wavey triangles. Those are the basic shapes you will need. Now these don't have to be of exact size as you can slide them and cover the unwanted area with some plain paper.
Now you can cut all this on a plotter if you have one. Or get your son or daughter to cut them as you want them to be random.
For the rust. Pin holes compass holes any thing you like. Not many are needed.
For all the stencil work the key is keep turning them keep it random and build in layers of colour.
That is it. You have just weathered your tank, and found an extra use for you airbrush as well. (when i was doing the weathering i had my psi at around 20)
Hope you found it helpful.
All the best caddy

Thanks for the comments guys appreciated.
How this came about was, well its a bit of a long story but. I have another tiger i was doing. I have done that all free hand using 3 different airbrushes. All iwata's,going right down to a 0.18 needle.
So i was thinking how to simplify what i was doing for the beginners. who has an airbursh but dosn't realy know what to do to get simple effects fast. So i came up with this. As i said it took me around 45mins from start to finish (that was for the main tank colour and camo, mind you the gun i used for the main colour 4 pass and the tank was done.).
The main thing is to use the templates you made with a flash by hit on the gun. Rotate move it slightly and flash some more paint on to it. That builds a random patterns very quickly. With very little fuss.
Any way hope you like the idea, if you need to know any more about it, just post away and i will try and answer it as best i can.

Caddy, could you do a step by step with photo's in the painting and weathering section? I struggled with the airbrush until OZ demonstrated each step, one day we did prep work.then primer, the base, sealer, base coat, and detailing.
I'm very much with you on the budget, the Porsche I'm doing has cost about 45.00 US. in paints, Now that is due to my method, but all the more reason to preview a step by step of your method.
The post above is excellent, but many people ae like me.We need ot be shown and learn by seeing something done. Thanks for taking the time to post the description.
Also one tip,I use empty pill bottle to mix paint in,the child proof type as the top has a rubber seal, once mixed it will keep for a long time in these bottles.

I will try to do that for you 1 day Sax. I would have taking pic's as i went along but my camera was aleady not working. Where i paint at home its just way too cold for me to spend time in there at presnt.
My mates camera i borrowed to take the pic's, is just way to complicated for me to use. I have never seen soo many buttons and then buttons with options before. It was doing my head in trying to use the damn thing

.
So when funds allow for a new camera and the weather warms up a bit will try to get some thing sorted for you.
