HL Pershing gearbox removal

Hi all

I seem to have killed the standard plastic gears on the left side today (some gravel got caught in the drive train which I didn't see as I was on the warm side of the double glazed doors :D). The problem is, I can't physically remove the gear box: the motor is off, the smoker out, the RH motor and gears are out, but to remove the left hand gears there is a lug of plastic (for a screw) that stops it. Any suggestions? :S

Cheers

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

I've not a pershing, but all the HL gearboxes are basically the same. 3 screws holding it in with the odd plastic pin. Might be just simply stuck on one of these pins.

If you got your pershing from some one else might be they broke the fixings and glued in position. Apart from that I don't know why it would be stuck.

Regards,

Ian.

Theres a plastic case behind the drove sprocket, it has 1 screw in the top, undo that screw and remove both halfs of the little case and it gives you more room to turn the gearbox & take it out,
sounds silly but it works

Hi Pete

I had wondered what that plastic case is for, as despite taking the screw out I couldn't shift it for love nor money. I wondered if our friends at HL were being liberal with the glue, so with extra force and large disregard to the tank I've managed to force it off 8O, and lo and behold, more super glue than you could shake a stick at! Still, at least I can now put new boxes in :D . For anyone who's not yet tried taking out a HL Pershing box, here are some pictures of the problem.
