Scale rope?

Hi,
I've had the good fortune to purchase a lovely example of a well rusted scale oil drum which I would like to mount on the back of my HL Tiger (which remains an on-going project thanks to the never ending inspiration I get from the very high standards you guys build your tanks to!). My question is; I want to make it look as though the drum has just been slung on the back and lashed down with a bit of old rope. So what's the best 1/16 scale rope? I was thinking maybe sewing thread. What would you use?
As ever the benefit of your, collective, modelling skills is appreciated.
Thanks.

model sailing ships have some nice scalerope. try constructo or billings ships. If your model shop sells the kits they probably have the spare rope also.

embroidary sewing silks can be good as it stays smooth without those fluffy bits that spread out from some threads also availabel in hundreds of colours
