I have found on ebay the turret parts for Tamyia's 1:16 KV-2 no unless I am stupid which I probably am the KV-2 and KV-1 share the same chassis.
So I have had a thought if I am opening the KV-1 up anyway why not make something a little different and turn it into a KV-2
Silly idea or not?
Will add I have been a model maker for many years and am willing to pick up a pair of clippers or craft knife and give things a shot if its a good idea

You correct shares the same chassis. Only problem you might have is connecting the Tamiya to HL but is possible Yellowshaker has done it. If I find the post I'll add a link.

I hadn't seeen that no thanks for the link

the ebay turret with p&p etc comes to around £40 which I thouldn't think is too bad, I might hold off until I actually have the KV-1 then decide but if as you say Tankbear it is do-able then I should certainly like to try

If you have modeling skills and can solve problems any thing is possible. Quite common for people to build stuff from separate manufacturers and make good looking functioning models. Helps that there all same scale.
My modeling skills are total newbie, only been in hobby since last summer so learning all the time but if you get stuck chances are somebody here has already been there and happy to help.
