just on my local model shop web site, and i can get a 3000 ma battery for 19 pound or a 4600ma battery for 29 pound. can i use these in a tank? i know the battery i have is 2000ma, would the biggerones give better endurance or just fry everything? new to rc so i'm not that sure.

I would say the 3000mAh one might work if you have a rx18( it would be s&s). I dont know too much battery info on tanks, I am running a 2000 battery just fine in my non s&s tank.

Hello Jeff , a larger battery will increase the running time . I have 5000's in mine ( my tanks are done up like Bengal taxi's with add on's everywhere ) - but the stock charger is not much good over 2000mah, a proper smart charger is best .

I got a 4 pack of 4800 mah for my King Tiger off ebay, not electronically minded but the milliamp hours is a reference to capacity as long as they are 7.2 volt should be good.

Yeah, get a nice high mAh and a smart charger, so long as you don't go too high, voltage wise...

I run two of my Heng Long tanks on 8 cell 9.6v batteries and the electronics handle it fine although if running standard gearboxs might be too fast as increases the motor speeed.

To answer original question as long as you go for 7.2v battery with Tamiya connector and dimensions same as HL one the bigger the capacity the better, but you'll need to get a better charger.

Radio shack 3800mha has worked well for my Tiger,but in agreement about the charger. But the after Christmas sales should be a good time to upgrade.

Can I run a 9.6v 700mAh battery in a stock non s and s tank with a rx 13? If so then I have 3 batteries.

I've not tried with RX13 board. I found a 9.6v 650mAh battery fits in battery compartment of my Tiger and gives it about 20 minutes run time with the smoker going. Not bad to say the HL 1700mAh only gives 40 minutes.

All I can suggest is if your daring is to try it. TO start with just check each motor by running for a few seconds if that works then try a bit longer and longer until your happy it works and not over heating anything. Like a say I've run mine for a full twenty minutes and all is ok so far.
