Looking for a bit of advice.
I have a Tamiya Panther and would like it to run at a more realistic speed and not like a F1 car. what is the best,easiest,cheapest way of reducing the speed to a more realistic one ?
Any help would be appreciated

Hello.

I think the cheapest quickest easiest method would be to Drop the voltage from 7.2 v. to say 6 volt by using a 6 volt nicad pack instead of the 7.2 volt pack.

failing that I think you would have to look at altering the drive gear ratios to say 3:1 with new gearboxes.

Hi there Steve there is a reduction gear set you can buy for the tamiya gearboxes but at a price! £60! You remove your motors bolt the reduction gears on then bolt you motors on them! I'm sure someone on here has done fitted them on there tank. The only other option would be to replace the tamiya gearboxes with a 3.1 gearboxes but again your talking £45ish and they won't be as good as the tamiya gears! Hope that helps!

Hi there Steve I would go for the reduction gear set I put them in my Tamiya Tiger and they work a treat if you reduce the power to the motors you can end up it won't turn on the grass due to lack of power the reduction gears will increase the power I had a quick look and can't find any for sale at the moment even tankzone has run out of them I will keep looking for you and let you know when I find any. If you have a look in tankzone under tamiya Tiger 1 accessories it will give you a clue to what you are looking for.

Thanks for the replies, I think i will try the reduction gear sets if any can be located. They may be expesive but i think it would be worth the money when you consider the outlay on a Tamiya Full option tank (I cannot understand why Tamiya go to the trouble of producing accurate F/O tanks and not suppling the correct speed gearboxes).

While you are waiting for your gear set. If your Tx allows. Put some mixing in. My set has 10+ mix available. You would be surprised what you can do with them linked to a few switchs on your hand set.

Well i have had a look around and the only place i can find gear reduction sets are from Tankzone and they are out of stock, Anyone got any other sellers that may stock them ?

What kind of radio have you got? If you have a computerized radio then you can simply dial down your end point setting, or muck about a bit with exponential.

I have a futaba 6ex, but i think if i adjust the end points i will not get the full range of sound. The exponential may be a good option and i will give that a go
