I have hooked up my Tamiya recoil to both the 14 and the 18 board and I still get the same strange reaction.

Works fine...but after 3 or 4 shots the unit will not stop when it should and slowly ends up where it should not.... to the point where it stops all the way in full recoil position then starts its way back to the normal 'off' position and then it repeats the same action almost to the letter.

I don't think its the unit.....can it be that the 'pulse' form the HL boards is not correct for the Tamiya unit?

I did add the diode to the back of the RX-18 and I even tried disconnecting the micro switch on the Tamiya recoil .....no change.

Here is how the Tamiya Recoil is hooked up right now.

The green lead is connected to the switched battery +
the Blue lead is connected to the Battery switched negative -
The white lead is on the number 5th pin from the left on the 8 pin to turret.

Have you tried removing the diode and relying on the micro switch.

I know on my KV-1 which doesn't have micro switch and diode mod, the firing works but the airsoft and recoil is all out and looks like the tank is having a sneezing fit.

I did try removing the diode mod and no change and my Tamiya recoil is the newer springless
type. Makes me wonder what that mod is when some of the teeth on the big wheel are removed
and a spring is then added is all about. I have seen it on some post but no real explanations.

It could be that the gearing is different on the tamiya unit than on the heng long that would make it over run were it should stop!

If it where the same spot all the time that would make more sense.....but it has many different stopping points as it progresses. Thanks tho.

Have you tried greasing the unit up, those running rails hate running dry. Or you could use vaseline just don't let the tank commander see what you are doing, he could get the wrong idea

I'll do just that. but use a not so thick or sticky like lube....hmm maybe that stuff that my girl friend has....then mien Tiger will smell and taste like strawberries! LOL

It has also been suggested that I use the the positive wire from the turret rather than the switched battery's positive line.

ITS WORKING!!!!!!!!

Tho lubing was needed and a goot idea indeed.....what really did the trick was to use the positive pin for Elevation for the Tamiya green wire and that was it!.....plus I had to bi pass the micro switch on the Tamiya Recoil probably cuz I already have that diode mod on my board.

Now to order my 6 wire Slip Ring for the 360 Turret rotation and its time to Paint!....geesh....just in time for winter and this year is going to be bad for both coast me thinks

Oh man......after a few more test runs it started doing it again! ARGHHH!!!!

Looking at its design and while it was in motion I noticed that there was one small black rubber donut on only one rail and at the very most closed or ( normal barrel extended ) the part that rides on the rail would just barely bump it. So I took a pair of gradual pointed tweezers and step by step moved the donut further out.....and what do ya know ....while the motor is on its closing sweep its more or less just coasting and needs a stopping break.

What next? instead of that silly donut thing I cut up an ink pen spring as it had just the right kind of tension. The part that glides on the two rails were they would make contact with the springs are not even so one spring is longer than the other.

After all that it works like it should! funny the exact spring tension has a lot to do with exactly where its going to stop.....too much and you'll ware down gear teeth or burn out the motor and too little it will start to creep again.

I know that there is a kit out there thats makes the Tamiya recoil more realistic but mine sweeps back faster than it returns so I'm happy with it.
