Being on the outside looking in.

Hi.
i am a very recently joined member. My name is wadsworth john. I have found that by and large the site is an exel
lent one.
And very well run and presented.
However, there is one item that gives me concern, Being new to this hobby,(and i guess i am not alone).
I am finding it nigh on impossible to find a club or group locally, that i can join.
To get anywhere, one needs to belong to a group of somekind, and although i have put out several feelers,
there has been absolutely no feedback at all, something that is not very helpfull.
I live in Dorchester Dorset. and would like to join up with like minded people.
If there is a club in this area, then why so secretive, It begs the question. although having said that.
I used to be on the commitee of our local hangliding/paragliding club,in berkshire, and i know the drawbacks.
Whats the betting that there will be no responce to this outpouring !!
Cheers John.

John,
I'm sorry your feeling that way. But unfortinately not every question posted will get an answer, that's how forums are.
If you ask a techincal question any member may have knowledge/experience/read elsewhere of the answer that member could be any where in the world. Your question on the other hand is only aimed at possibly a very small portion of members and hence you've had no response.
And don't be afried to ask questions if you don't know no matter how silly you think it is. We're not born with all this knowledge and experience and all have to start somewhere.

Hi.
Thank you for your reply.
All the hobbies i have been involved with, have a local club. and most of the time a national governing body,
Seeing that so many people worldwide are involved in this hobby,
I was very surprised that ther appeared to no local clubs/associations.
Yes there are meets etc but even though one outfit says we meet in somebodys scout hut, can you find out where it is ? can you hell,
I am rather down hearted to think that i may have spent a lot of money, only to find that i may have taken up the
wrong hobby. I sincerly hope not.
Its fine for those who have a large rambling garden, and can invite friends round for a fun time, but spare a thought
for those of us who live in a first floor flat, and to play at wars, will have to throw all the plants out of the
window box, in order to give our" pets," some exercise,
Cheers John.

Hi John ,
Welcome to the forum
Sorry you're feeling downhearted, but you may not get a response immediately, i'm located in Essex, so nowhere near you,
I'm sure there are members in your neck of the woods that will contact you eventually.
The scout hut meeting is no secret, its in Luton, actual address not to hand at the moment, but if you want to attend just say and I'll give you the details. You may have to join the RC Tank Regiment to attend.

Hi Guys.
Many thanks for your replies, im not giving up yet, i have one more avenue to explore.
It is just, that i am at a loss to know why there is not a prpoer club structure, as there is with all other
r/c types of modelling, here in england.
A bloody shame!!
Meanwhile i must drum up the will to start respraying my tiger.
Cheers John.

Hi John
welcome to the forum.

Wait a miniute (I did that on the 22nd).
You want others to play with.
Try
New Southern Armour Group (SAG) is on the
UKTC website.
http://www.uktank.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Click on
Tank Talk.
Then
General Tank Chat.
The post you want is.
New Southern Armour Group within the UKTC In there you will find four names, phone numbers and their email for contact, all are in the Bournemouth area.
Also some proposed 2012 shows or meets they may attend in Somerset, Dorset & Hampshire.
The UKTC is mainly large 1/6th some quarter scale. But also 1/16th catered for.
Any problems locating it just send me a PM.
