HL sound effect improvements.

Is there anyway of improving the RX18 sound effects. i.e. changing speaker, or two lower impedance speakers in series, in line amp.

I know there is the ElMod and SLU systems.

But the ElMod Eco is 102euros which as far as I can tell doesn’t have sound so to add a sound blaster card at 99euros to add to that. The SLU is $209canadian (about £140) comes with speaker, LED’s, Tamiya IR battle system etc so probably better value although cannot alter sounds and doesn’t have the inertia physics like the ElMod. Plus don’t know if you need to change transmitter/receiver or can use HL one

Hi tankbear,
I agree entirely the standard sounds are $h1T........I am not sure if this is any use but it is cheaper...and you can opt for a kit rather than buy it built......
http://darkith.dyndns.org/~darkith/html/dbc.shtml" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The DARKITH battle system allows IR combat and gives the tanks inertia that siuts their weight when accelerating or braking...but I am not sure about sounds.....I cannot see it on the list...which is a bit sad...but perhaps ask him in an email....or maybe your eyes are better than mine and I simply cannot see the right section. :{

Hl sound..is Hl sound the only thing that you can do is try more bass with an improved speaker. But in doing so you will requie a bass box for the said speaker to work in. Bigger box, better the sound will get. Impoving the sound this way,(that will also go for the Elmod or tamyia) there is no room left for the smoker.

Even if you were to get the Elmod and put the Hl speaker onto it. Yes the sound will change.But that deep throb sound you here from the bigger tanks, comes from the ability the speaker has to work with in side the givin sound box size. So here size does matter :haha: to a point. A better quality speaker has a much bigger magnet on it. So its not so much the over all size ie : 200mm speaker is going to be better. If that same speaker still only has a small low grade magnet used. It will not produce a better quality sound compared to a smaller speaker, but with a bigger magnet. But over all you must make a sound box up.

Agree. Better speaker but then stuck with HL amplifier not been able to power it.

DId some research and quite a bit on the internet about people complaining about tinny sounding computer speakers, which kept coming back to poor amp on internal sound card. So when I get chance I'm going to try connecting some head/earphones to the output and see about the quality of sound and then further try some portable speakers which have an built in amp.

I'm not expecting a massive improvement but some would be nice.

I think you a running down the wrong road with the idea of amp up the Hl sound. it will not improve it it will just increase the out put.
To change the sound of a standed sound card is all about reverberation. Put the standed tank in an empty room, it will seemly increase out put,also you will get more bass. Put that same tank in a wooden box in that same room. Sound will go up agaim and even more of a bass sound will come.

I think you need to get the right speaker in a good box, not just pump amp's in as the out put will be disappointing, louder yes but still that same tinny sound.

Well I connected up my headphones to the output and basically the quality didn't get any better.

Could try a better speaker but I haven't got any spare ones so won't be doing that in a rush :haha:

i've beeen in the same road, and finally i decided to buy only a souncard from beier. there is an especific model for HL tanks, and is installed in two easy steps with no soldering

http://www.beier-electronic.de/modellbau/index.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The quality is a few ligthyears from the HL...

if you want ear it, search on youtube "beier soundmodul':

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lNWJRaJx9Q" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4yRrqU5Lh4" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

it is not cheap (129€), but is easely programable, you can work your own sounds and put them on the module.

i'm very happy with it!

best regards
