My Mato Tamiya Sherman

So I've been working on my Sherman for some years now and it's gone through some changes to say the least. Recently I deciced I wanted to make it look like the first Sherman I've ever been able to get in, let alone ride, shoot the bow gun, clean, and eventually drive one day. Here are some shots of what it took to get it here plus a comparison shot of the actual tank, minutes after its first drive since its restoration, and my rc one. Enjoy the journey.

The tank was looking a bit empty so I raided my crop of old GI Joes. I had to shave the driver's helmet down from its original shape then add all the brass details. The commander originally had fatigues and a mustache but I took the head off and put it on the stock Tamiya commander's body. Funny thing happened that i didn't intend; it came out looking like Tom Hanks. Enjoy.

I agree the Sherman looks great, the progression of detailing is smart and focused. Thanks for sharing  The crewmens expression is to funny, but very realistic.

Thanks guys. I have really been on the look out for some 1/16 scale WWII tankers but the local shops cater more to the 1/35 scale stuff. I've tried ebay but it's hit or miss there too. I'm not the biggest fan of the half smile, half egotistical look of the driver nor do I like the pouty look of "Tom" but they fill the hatches.....for now. ;D

Thank you for all your kind words.

I decided that the bow gunner hatch needed to be functional also so I got to work making another one. I also didn't like the lack of detail in the first attempt at the lower hatches so I cut holes out in them and mounted the periscopes directly through the hatch like they would do in RL. I did it to the split hatch too but it looks the same so no need for the extra pic. Lastly, I had to put a cable on there since no Sherman should be without one. Enjoy.
