i picked her up about a month ago , shes a mark 1 kt , its second hand ,the price was right but the camo scheme isnt , the idea was to leave it as it is so i had a tank to play with untill i got all my other projects done , BUT as we all do ive started detailing it , so the colour scheme will stay untill ive finished ripping bits off
first is a pic of how it came

so far ive removed the moulded drivers vision block and made a new one that will be able to turn ,

then i added a armoured electrical box from armourpax to replace the existing one

on the rear dack all the bolt heads are moulded so ive removed them and added real ones

likewise with the front plate

next was to remove the gas recognition plates and scratch build better ones

i then removed the track hangers as there were three sets ,yes they were fitted to the last turrets but these never left the factory ,so i went for the earlier two in a row ones

i kept looking at the cupola which is a one piece item ,looking at the time it would of took to hollow out i went for a armortek one ( cheers john )



i also removed the original loaders hatch and fitted a armourpax one , ( after alot of cutting and sanding )

next was to remove the turret crane sockets , i used armourpax ones , and remove the turret front site and scratch build a new one

If you want to add periscopes it might be worth opening the holes a bit now. I used the armorpax loaders hatch. it was easy to make the locking mechanism work.Nice to see the detailing start.

cheers john, the cupola came with the armourpax periscopes and they just drop in

Thats a Great Tiger you have there Cliff. ( just came across this ) Love the improvements that you are adding. Will this be the end for your 1/16 models ?

Nice tank, I’ve seen one in the flesh so to speak, glad you are detailing that jelly mould.

I'm doing some work on a mark 1 King tiger at the moment. Really dirty one needs a makeover. Do you know how to remove the road wheels. I have the hubcaps off. Any idea?
