HL Bulldog reciever problems!

Does anyone know how I can resolve a reciever problem with my hl bulldog?

I only have to run it about 2 or 3 meters away from the controller and it stops recieving!

I've checked the antenna wire is connected to the antenna and board in the tank,
I've checked the controller by using it with my kv-1 and all is ok!

I'm not sure if its were the antenna is mounted and is maybe getting some kind of interference?

I was looking at a review for it on you tube by hobbyking and it mentioned the reciever problem there.

It's puzzling me why this would be a problem on this tank!

Any advice would be appreciated!

Hi Jason, Try disconnecting the Antennae and connect a coiled section of 16-18ga wire converting to an internal antennae. If this resolves the problem then I would think the connector is at fault and the internal antennae generally works very well.

If you have a meter you could check the connection from the board to the connector, then to the tip of the antennae, if you lose continuity at one of these points then you have found the problem.

Hi Saxon
I've tried for coninuity using an electricians screw driver & it passed(one of those battery operated screw drivers that checks for any loose conections).

One thing i did do was use my mates green house as an antenna and the tank ran much further(basically I touched the tip of the controllers antenna to the green house's metal frame)
Altthough carrying around a green house isnt very practical I know! :haha:

The internal antenna idea seems like a plan.
I take it all I have to do is wrap wire around a piece of metal or any other type of material, fix it somewhere and than solder it to the board?

Thanks
Jason

Just looked at the pic you posted and that pretty much explaines how to make an internal antenna.

One question the red tube the antenna goes into: the wire on the other side that solders onto the board, is that the same guage wire or the same gauge wire that is already on fitted on the tanks(sorry if that seems like a stupid question)?

Finally resolved the problem today!

All it was, was the pins on the reciever board plug that goes into the rx-18 board.
I just bent them slightly and its working fine now :D
