Re: More Panthers

Fuente: http://hobbymex.com/feedback/tips/ZIMMERIT2.htm

Re: More Panthers
Here is the text from the link translated into 'Google English'.
I found it quite useful althoug I believe that the number 6 cross hatch pattern was also used on Daimler Benz built Panthers.

CHOOSING THE PROPER STANDARD ZIMMERIT
Early summer 1943 offensive operations under the Germans and it was during this period that he was introduced Zimmerit.
The Zimmerit paste was applied to the vertical parts of the German armor. in an effort to prevent and Adhesive Magnetic Soviet mines, which needed a steel surface where enough to damage or destroy the vehicle while staying.
Zimmerit development again offered protection against magnetic mines, not simply putting a metal layer between the explosive charges and vehicles. The Zimmerit also created an uneven surface, which reduced the contact area of mines, a British report of Major JW Thompson. In July 1945, the Zimmerit was developed in Berlin by CW Zimmer Co. (hence the name), this consisted of 40% barium sulfate, 25% of polyvinyl acetate, 15% ocher pigment, 10% sawdust and 10% of zinc sulfate.
Zimmerit was used until mid-1944 when it was removed for ineffectiveness against anti-tank improved (especially rockets) conducted by the German historical references indicate that different types and patterns Zimmerit were used ammunition. The applications of the factory were generally neat and uniform in appearance, while field applications were lower due to battle conditions available for the crew. This list is intended to make a synopsis of types of vehicle and pattern generally associated with each. Please note that exceptions (especially field applications), contradict this list. It is a very general guide, so it is important that references be consulted before making the model.
