15....thats a good innings for a German Shepherd or any other dog for that matter.
My Ben was nearly 9 when I had to have him put to sleep. He had leukemia, its been quite a few years since then, but it still hurts. As you say, your best friend.

I genuinely feel sad for you Nic, and the rest of you guys. It's so hard when you lose a special friend.

When the end came it was like a blow to the chest....Friday fine, Saturday afternoon...dead, she jumped out of the LANDY on Friday......yelped....subdued all night, on Saturday diagnosed with a ruptured spleen with tumors whole area of lower abdomen bloated with blood...prognosis, six months(if surgery is successful)...so we.. the wife and I opted for an injection ....torn a big hole in us she did..

Nic....still goes, they are so much a part of us.....

Thats nowt. we had to put my aunt down with a hammer today. Bugger just wouldn't die.
Sorry, just a Northern Irish sense of humor coming through. I do understand your losses friends as i am taking one of the best cats that ever existed to the vets in the morning to relieve her of her misery.
