Hello Grandpa, :wave:
I would definately recommend the Heng Long Tiger 1. There are tons of upgrades and modifications that you can do to it and there is also LOADS of space inside the hull for you to work in. If you check through the forum there are plenty of builds and alterations to the Tiger 1. My immediate suggestion would be, Metal Tracks,Metal Sprockets, adjustable metal idlers and some kind of 3-1 reduction gearbox....either bought as 3-1 or a standard Heng Long Metal gearbox modified like this......http://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/v ... 981#p47980" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
..........If you are up to a bit of drilling and filing.
The 3-1 reduction gearboxes make the Tiger 1 engines much more powerful and with more torque...the speed is also far more realistic, than the standard 'fast' version.

Welcome to the forum,I must agree that the Tiger or the Panther G/ Jagdpanther would be good first choice tanks. Lots of aftermarket parts and many,many build threads available for guidance.

Tiger is a great start. I would recomend RCTANK.DE or ASIAATAM.DE.
Both do kits which include the important upgrades and save having to remone some of the poor heng long parts.
