Hi, I haven't been into the R/C tanks before, this is my first excursion after my wife bought me a HL Tiger 1 (S & S) as present, I don't think she realised what she was starting! I have been having problems with my Tiger road wheels ever since I upgraded to an Asiatam metal hull, Asiatam metal early road wheels and Asiatam drive sprockets and idlers. The right track runs fine, no problems at all , the left side runs ok for a short while the the last two sets of road wheels, before the idler, try to climb around each other . I spent some time ensuring everything lined up as it should, I had to shim the left idler out with two washers to achieve this. The rear idler has some play on the axle, i.e. it wobbles a bit! I have the same problem whether I run HL metal tracks or the High Grade metal tracks. Track tension is set so the top run touches the third road wheel. I would be grateful for any pointers to a solution!

Can you take a pic from underneath the tank without the tracks.

I seem to recall that some years ago the HL's had problems with some upgrade wheels because the suspensions arms are too short (not to scale). This meant that sometimes the inner wheels would catch the axel of the outer wheels.

I wouldv'e thougth that this wouldn't happen with the Asiatam hull and wheels but you never know. Check to see if the wheels are rubbing against the axels of the wheels next to them as they travel up and down. If so then you may need to shave a bit of rubber off the wheels.

Hi Woz, thanks for the hints . I've had a look underneath and the last set of road wheels is suspiciously shiny where it looks like the next set have been rubbing on it, see photo below. I'll examine further and decide how to tackle it by either shaving a bit off the tyres or removing a bit of the shaft between the inner and outer wheels on the last set, but that will have to wait a while as I have to get back to work (always gets in the way of enjoying yourself!), I'll post how I get on later.

Hi it could be the rubber tyre rubbing against the back wheel forcing it up try some vaseline on the inside of the back wheel where the inner tyre of the next wheel might rub hope this helps.

Hi all, thanks for all the tips, after looking at the options I decided to file away some of the shaft on the last set of road wheels to give some clearance, after charging up the battery and running the Tiger around on carpet and grass for twenty minutes with no problems this seems to have cured the issue! Now it looks like the drive train is sorted I can move onto adding the metal bits and pieces to add some more weight and detail, good job I work from home so can intercept the packages before my wife sees them!
