Mato Tiger 1 hull mod

Well, after modifying my Mato hull to Asiatam wheels and Impact track I have had issues with the track coming off the front sprockets and jamming. The track is too loose and when I take a link out it is too tight, so out with the Dremel and I'm going to cut the whole rear idler supports off and fit a track tensioner. I think then I will finally have a decent robust waterproof hull?

Hi there.
You may already have done this, but i'd check to see that everything is lined up and running true. I run my tracks fairly loose but I cant say i've had this probem.

Hi Chipmunk,
Yep all lined up, only seems to happen when turning in reverse, I have about 4mm play (slack) between track and idler, the track will still be 'slack' if I take it up with a tensioner.

All done and perfect, I'm very happy with the result. The problem with Mato is that it is a metal copy of the Heng Long hull and therefore no ability to tension track.
I ended up fitting the Asiatam tensioner (as it looks more like a real one). I fitted it as you would for the plastic hull however the dremel got a work out with cutting disc through the metal.
No more track issues

Hi Chipmunk,
Very very happy with result and a must for anyone going down the Mato hull path. I fitted Asiatam wheels and track tensioners. Had to drill and tap the Mato suspension arms to take the Asiatam axles. No more track issues and a heavy duty 'water proof' hull.
