Hello all,

I'm in the middle of spending loadsa money i haven't got on those little extras we all love, ie metal bits!
The only question i've got is whats the difference between mato and asiatam?
Is it just quality and price? Also is one brand a better fit than the other when using them on a standard hl plastic body/hull?
Can the majority of these parts be fitted straight out of the box withou too much engineering
work,especially the running gear

any help much appreciated
Thanks guys

When you add more metal parts eg tracks, sprockets, idlers, tools, it all takes its toll on suspension and g/boxes,(as you are adding more weight), which in turn need to be upgraded. I have used Asiatam but not Mato, beleive me, its not as simple as you might think, adding this, bolting on that. Nine times out of ten you will hit snags and it can be challenging, especially the electrics. But hey, thats all part of the fun and do not let it put you off. There are plenty of forum members on here that will help you out if you hit any problems.

Hi Rakey,

Mato parts tend to be cheaper but sometimes not as functional. For example metal escape hatch for the Tiger turret, Mato part is a direct replacement for the original and doesn't open the Asiatam item does open. The easiest way to define to define the two I suppose would be to say Mato offer direct replacement parts metal for plastic whereas Asiatam often re-engineers the item to make it do more or work better (opening hatches, torsion bar suspension etc).

Other manufacturers such as Imperial modelbau offer many cast products and kits and tank modelbau offer machine high quality parts.

Quality wise it sometimes a hit or miss with both companies, although the vendors in the UK do check them to help prevent lemons being sold.

Thanks for the answers guys, mystery solved.
When you're looking on the net sometimes the only difference you can see is the price!
Cheers

Keep in mind their are venders here that have proven time and time again their great service, and willingness to answer question based on the benefit to you the member, not their desire to move inventory. That is the real difference.
