Hi all, NG joining.

I've seen a lot of great info coming out of this board, so I'm joining and looking forward to some help in finding some of the parts I know I'll need.

Thanks in advance.

Hi sschelle,
Welcome to the forum, taking on a conversion from the Tamiya standard kit is a lot of work - but fun !!

Two big areas to think about are - how you will model the all steel wheels - do you make them yourself or buy an aftermarket set ..

The turret - that can be surprisingly expensive by the time you chage its coupola, loaders hatch and track hangers - not to mention the muzzlebrake and other assorted little bits and peices..

You will need to sit down and work out just how 'late' your Tiger will be - there are a host of changes to rework.

I am currently building 'Tiger Ebbey' in the Tamiya section - she is a late - but not a final configuration model.

Also - the Tigers were often sent back for repair, parts were robbed from damaged tigers as well - so do not get too hung up about getting it 'right ' - you will have quite a choice !!

Hi Majordisaster and thanks for the welcome.

I know the late conversion is a chore, but sounds like fun.

I am aware of the running changes, sometimes backward too, that occurred on the production line, have a bunch of photos and will pick one tank to model.

I have a set of WeCoHe metal wheels on order, now searching for the idlers. I know at one time WeCoHe made a set, but think that was discontinued (they told me so). It looks like you used a HL upgrade on Tiger Ebbey, was it a direct slide in, or did you have to make mods?

Hi Scott ,
The idlers are an HL upgrade and are a direct swop -you will need the Tamiya end cap to finnish off as it is not supplied with the idlers.

If you have not got one - or have already used it ,blimp has some first class castings. Check out his build in the Heng Long section.

Since you have already got the wheels sorted the biggest source of head scratching is now sorted for you.

Yes, the late build is a lot of work - but fun lots of it !!

I wish you luck on the start of your build - please post as many pictures as you can - we would all love to see your tank progress along !!
