Advice needed

Hi all,
Well after my first Panzer III build I'm hooked. As I'm a complete novice I need some (any) advice on my new project.
TIGER 1 from scratch with full metal Mato hull and HL upper body. My real problem now is WHAT electronics to use????? I was very happy with my RX18 (as it is a basic system) in my PzIII but as I'm taking the Tiger to the next level I think I should bite the bullet and put some descent electronics in.
My issue is that I don't have a clue? I would like to go down the Elmod road but don't know exactly what components I need and can someone with no RC experience put this together?
What I would like is a basic list of all bits that are required to make a bare shell go. I have Mato gearboxes and motors and will use a Asiatam recoil and flash unit and would like to run a HL smoke unit. From reading other threads I think that a Eco would suffice as I don't intend on IR or extra functions.
Do I just need one board and a transmiter or do I need a sound blaster, reciever board etc as well?
The easy option would be to go HL again but I think it would do this project an injustice. Can I do it? Some words of encouragement would be appreciated
Mic..

f you are going that far, I recommend using elmod as an electronics package for sure. It is well worth the cost. Eco is fine if you are not planning to use servos for recoil and/or elevation. You stated that you do not care about extra function either, so it should suffice. You might take a look at the asiatam lower hull otugh. It has its advantages over the Mato, incluiding real torsion bar suspension. it is a very nice piece, especially if you combine it with asaitam early road wheels. They have bearings and are a very nice part.
In any case, either one will make for a heavy tank and 3:1 gearboxes and better motors are another thing to add to it. Hope this helps.

I agree with what yellowshaker said. Asiatam hull is great and works really well. Elmod eco is fine you need blaster for sound. Also need radio and receiver. You can get a 4 chanel radio and receiver for about £40 which is ok for the eco. I am using the asiatam recoil in my tiger. plugs easily into the elmod. Also get a bigger speaker. Visaton 8 works well. If you are interested asiatam.de have a late tiger fully upgraded with full elmod set up and just about every upgrade including asiatam hull and all metal wheels and tracks. €389
This was you are not paying for any parts you are likely not to want. I got my panzer 111 in this form from them. Makes a good saving. I am quite new to this also but you will get lots of help here with elmod. I get my electronics and most other parts from rctank.de. very good aftersales service.
I put elmod into my panzer 111 also. not too happy with that tank. issues with recoil and turret rotation. Tiger is best. Lots of room for upgrades inside and runs really well. The elmod takes the heavy tank really well. No fans needed. My one weighs about 19 lbs.

Elmod finally in and working, I just posted a question about motors then re-read this thread so think I need to go for better motors to get the weight moving 7.5kg.
Still have issues with the Asiatam recoil (not working) works off a battery but when plugged into the 5 pin plug on elmod board it doesn't?

Just about the recoil. Have you got the red wire connected to the power wire. Dominique can help here. He sent me a good wiring diagram but I lost the mail. Be careful with the recoil. I had a faulty set up which was jamming and damaged my Elmod. Luckily Dominique got it fixed for me. I have some video posted of my Tiger. The new motors will actually like more weight. Mine is 18lbs and not struggling even over snow.
PS VERY NICE TIGER. LOOKS JUST LIKE THE BOVINGTON TIGER.

Thanks John, after two hours and turret off 20 times I found the problem. As I have re-aligned the barrel and changed the crank in the elevation unit (home made) to give the correct elevation and depression, the plastic clamp on the barrel was hitting on the plastic tray that used to feed the BB gun. Here I was thinking it was my wiring when all I needed was to file a bit of plastic!!!!
Yes, I modelled it on the Bov Tiger but as everyone seems to do this I have left off a turret number and left the lights on, just moved them to the glas as they seemed to do for Afrika.

Lucky you found that. Obstructions could blow the Elmod board. I'm just learning about setting up sound files. Trying to add some but still having problems.
