I am modeling the Bovington Tiger 131 and need help in matching up the Camouflage colours .Does anyone have a colour match to Tamiya paints? All so am I right in assuming that there were no head lights on this Tiger so I can just fill in the mounting holes in the deck.
Regards
Martin

Hi,
I've checked up on the RAL numbers that were supposedly in use in North Africa around the time that 131 was captured and they do not seem to match its current colour scheme.
Possibly the only way you will get an exact match is to contact Bovington and ask them exactly what colours they painted it!

Hi,
No wonder I got confused! There is a typo on the site I was looking at. 7008 had been written as 8007!

About the headlights a lot of the pics of the 504 abt Tigers show none, some had the mounting bases, original pics of 131 at time of capture show even the mountings missing, where the mounting has 4 bolts there should be 2 strips on the deck that the feet of the bosch mount sat on and were bolted onto, the strips are the length of the of the mounting and a little wider than the bolts that would be in situ when light and mount is absent, also if you want to paint 131 in service, forget bovington repaint,it used to look a lot more of a sandy version of RAL 7028,there were 3 or more shades as the war went on 131 was a sandy brown as opposed to the yellowish shade it is now, other africa tigers of 501 abt had RAL 7OO8 grey green, and RAL 8000 green brown, beware of modern RAL numbers, same numbers different shades
