Question regarding Heng Long Pershing

I am sure I am going loopy but I recently got hold of a Pershing with metal tracks and gears and it drives really slow. The Pershing in stock isn't particularly nippy but this one crawls. The lights flicker on forward movement as well (3800 battery).
I was wondering if there might be a problem, the tracks look a little loose to me. It looks fantastic but perhaps the extra links are causing it to draw more juice?

Hi
It could be an old battery that is not holding its charge anymore. If the lights are flickering and it runs slowly, it does seem to point to a low battery. The extra track links will not make any difference to its speed. It would run fractionally slower due to the extra weight of the metal tracks, but not as slow as you are indicating.
If the battery is old, try a new fully charged one first. Either that or there is something that is making it draw a lot of current. Such as a motor that is on its way out or a tight gearbox etc.

Hi,
thanks for the reply. Yep it is looking like it was the battery. It was originally purchased second hand as a group of 3800's. They've lasted a good few months now but that one has finally died testing a Panzer III today.
I'll double check with another battery tonight and see if it runs well, will check the gearbox as well just in case anything is awry.
Cheers,
Lewis
