now that the T-34 is on hold, I have soemthing else to mess around with. These parts arrived fromPhil today. They include the Asiatam KV lower hull, comeplete with late road wheels, idlers and sprockets. All wheels have double ball bearings installed. Very nice!!! The hull is the best of the 3 variants they make for HL tanks. Of course this is onluy my opinion. Anyway, alng with the hull 3:1 gearboxes from Asiatam, and metal tracks, along with some accessories arrived today as well. I will post pictures as things progress. I worked late tonight, so not muych time for too much on the tank.

Worked on the KV-1 a little bit today..not much but got some elevation and depression out of it now.
I also started to add some weld lines and the new hull machine gun. So far, so good though.

The hull seems solid,well detailed and functional. Which causes me to ask is the sliding shaft functional,if so did you mean to paint the shaft assembly? I do not know much about the KV1 or the track assembly so the purpose of my question is to gain a better understanding of the KV1.

Sax, the shaft I guess you mean the tensioner? Yes, that is functional and meant to be painted the same as the tank.
Here is some more for you guys.
I now have the basecaot on and will put a coat of clear over it. This will be the steel color that shows through the paint during weathering.

Final drive bearings are in. Everything is nice and tight.

Still waiting on some parts to arrive for the headlight. The HL has to go. I will be adding shumo parts to make it more realistic. I tried the tracks on tonight, just to test fit and it's already heavy. I like it. Here's a pic or two.


Alot to do on it, but everything fits well and it should turn out nice when I get it done.

The shaft in the picture is part of the track tension assembly? So how does it work,what type of mechanism create the tension a spring or just a sliding assembly with a set screw? Could you post a picture of the assembly? Thanks

Yes Sax, that's the tensioner. It is simply a screw that moves the idler in or out. No spring tensioner.
I will try to get better pictures for you.
