Here's a pic of Tiger 112 on the way to North Africa by ferry that should be of interest to those
who like their detailing to be spot on.
Notice the headlamps are located on the front glacis with their wiring coming from risers on the hull.
Also, just visible, is the lack of an armoured band on the gun mantlet for the gunners sights.

thats a nice photo john, i wonder if this tiger is from the same regiment as "131" was?,the armoured band on the gun mantlet is like "131", apparantly its a very early production mantlet, but ive never seen the lights mounted like that, still, you learn something new every day

Cool pic. Thanks for posting. I had every thing down except for the exact location of the hammer, ax and shovel. Now I know. And yes the 112 and 131 belonged to the 501 panzer kompany.

The headlights in that position stops them from using the crane hole to remove the front sprockets .Might be why you dont see alot of photos with headlights here.

I believe they were hinged. The light would swing back out of the way.

Hey John
did you also notice the comanders second sight spike fitted that would line up with
the thin metal line welded to the cupola which would give him a very fast line of sight
on his enemy.
