1/8 jagdpanther re-build.
Re: 1/8 jagdpanther re-build.
It was a nice day so I thought I'd get it outdoors for its first proper run and test firing. Still a few things to finish of such as washes, weathering and a few details. There is a short video on youtube http://youtu.be/51MqZb6bvco or search "1/8 scale jagdpanther firing". I'll do a better one (close ups) later on.

JP,
Completely excellent and awe-inspiring! All of the _hard work_ and many hours that you put into this rebuild has really come to fruition. This is a tank that will amaze folks for years to come.
regards,
Painless

...Here for the Dawn...
Re: 1/8 jagdpanther re-build.
Thanks Painless for your kind words. Yes its certainly been a lot of hours work. Runs really well. Still a couple more hours to go, tools and periscopes to go on after washes and a commander figure to paint.
Re: 1/8 jagdpanther re-build.
Made a start with the commander figure. Had parts from 3 different busts to build from and add detail. Decided to sculpt some forearms and hands from milliput.
Re: 1/8 jagdpanther re-build.
some more pics of the sculpting and test fitting headphones and throat mic and binoculars etc.
Re: 1/8 jagdpanther re-build.
After a sand, clean and pime coat I filled any small imperfections. Then applied (airbrushed) a base coat of matt black. Chose black as the majority of the figure is black leather jacket. Then started the long process of the face. Still more to do but happy with face so far.

Hi Wow what a great job you have done , very hard to get parts for this scale . Outstanding work .
Just a little advice when driving and transporting Jagdpanthers watch out on steep banks approaching either up or down the barrel can hit the ground causing the type of damage to your barrel and mantle ,the other way the damage can occur is in the back of the car when some muppet pulls out and you have to slam the brakes on make sure it cant slam into the back of your seat.(I damaged one of my tanks like this but not to bad)
regards pete

Many thanks for the comments guys.
Yes the barrel and mantlet had already suffered a similar accident when I got it. Will be wary when tackling embankments. Barrel is now part stainless steel and copper pipe and double the fibre glass so should be a bit more robust hopefully.
Weighs at least 2 slipped discs and a hernia Haven't weighed it but its a little heavier than the original due to a fair amount of additional metal added to strengthen/improve and detail.
Yes the camera phone was nearly dropped and I had to edit out the x rated expletive. The wife was a expecting something like a party popper. I had explained it was going to be a bit louder than that. Not the best clip but will do another when its all weathered and the commander finished.
