Is the tamiya recoil elevation unit compatible with the Heng long tiger 1. Has anybody done this. Looks like a better unit than the asiatam.

Seeig as how the units are both 2 wire DC motors, I can' see whyit wouldn't work. It would have to be wired to the correct spots on the 8 pin connector and it should be good to go.

The Tamiya recoil unit is a nice unit and their is a kit to modify it to have an faster recoil and slower return. But Dietrich figured out how to accomplish the same mod without spending the 42.00 for the mod kit. Recoil unit can be purchased through Jason's store but it might be a good idea to ask Dave and Steve what they can get them for.
We (me and alb) have worked on these recoil units in our King Tiger and the Mod works well. As far as the elevation unit it is a simple gearbox with a fulcrum lever. With a little plasticard they can be mounted in the H/L TURRET. Cheers Blake

use the hl stug elevation unit it is better by far than the tamiya as the tam uniy is real sloppy if you look in the KT turrets they are hl units
