WARNING, HANNANTS MODEL SHOP!!!!!

Post by Abo »

Just a heads up guys, from a thread on my KT build web site it appears that Hannants model shop have had thier web page compromised by hackers and numerous C.C. numbers have been stolen.

It doesn't have to be recent transactions with this company, it could go back some time. I last used them about 6 months ago. I had THREE unauthorised transactions made on my debit card over this last weekend. Luckily my bank was on the ball and stopped them and informed me. If you've used them, EVER! check your accounts fella's.

That's really shocking how they stored CC details in their database, and for them to not be encrypted(which I'm guessing they weren't) is just absolutely ridiculous.

Guy's it cost me 9.95 a month to use a card not connected to my bank account directly. I can load the card every month or for a purchase from my bank account, but it does not work the other way. If the card balance is to low no money is paid out.

Years ago with the NAVY CREDIT UNION of all places we got bitten pretty hard, eventually the money was given back by the Navy Credit Union but like all Government systems it was several months.

Scooby very good point why have this information if they cannot protect it? Seems they are liable?

incase you never knew. Look at the address bar when making a transaction and if it has "https" at the begining you have some assurance that it is secure. if it only has "http" then go elsewhere. The s actually stands for Secure.

I ALWAYS check for that "s" in the address, in this case thats not the problem, the initial purchasing was secure, it was the subsequent hacking of thier page that obtained the cc numbers for this sub human filth.

Interesting point Andy, although (touch wood) I have never been " had ", I always pay with secure sites ( it usually states that), I didn't know that the S stood for that
Hey man....I just ride 'em, I dunno what makes 'em work.
