RC Tank Warfare community hobby forum

Hello All

I don't yet have an RC tank but am looking to buy one soon. Most likely I will get a Heng Long Jadgpanther. Reading through the various posts on this forum I recon it would be better to buy one with the standard plastic gearboxes and then get brass gearboxes as soon as possible?

Yes that would most likely be the best course of action. My Tiger I ran many batteries with the plastic boxes although it started grinding as soon as I ran it on rough terrain.

Welcome to the forum, Jagdpanther's a great runner out of the box. Although the metal upgraded gearboxes can work well if you Run them in using the Cam shaft grinding compound. This will smooth the gear meshing and the noise level will drop. Also we havea section on new tanks and the suggested mods for them. Enjoy Saxondog

I think I will definitely get the Jagdpanther. Looks like it has a lot of potential for a lot of detailing etc.

Hi Welcome to the forum ,dont turn down the Jagdpanther with metal Gears as standard ,they run very well on them ,if you can find one with all metal gears and tracks it could save money in the long run.

Welcome to the forum. There are some sites with slightly upgraded models. The problem with starting basic is that when you start to upgrade you end up with a lot of spare parts of no value. Have a look at rctank.de I have bought from a few sites but found them the best and quickest to reply and although in Germany they have no problems dealing through English. They hae 6 jadgpanthers at present with various levels of upgrade. Also upgrading in stages can prove very expensive. All depends how far you want to go. I believe the Jadgpanther parts bag is quite good. Tools appear to be seperate items to be fitted by you unlike some of the awful molded on stuff like the Tiger 1. Good look with your first tank.
