Before fitting these units to a mattoro tiger 2 its (i have found) it's a good idea to remove 2 mm from the sproket end of the output shaft. If left as are the track runs out of true and causes vibration to loosen gears inside the units. It's a simple case of removing these shafts (two grub screws on each) then turning down on a lathe or if your good with a hacksaw & file, in a vice. The retaining screws for sprokets still fit as the threaded hole is plenty deep enough. Use threadlock on all the grubscrews & problem solved. If left as is you end up with spinning motors & no drive. Much like the origonal machine. That much realism i can do without...

Hi Wolftone

I bought metal gears for my hl tiger 1, would this work on my gears.

Their with my Nephuw at the moment, " he's fixing my circuit board ",
so I can't look to see if there are any grub screws on mine, to do it.

Did you take any photos.

Dont know about the Tiger 1 as yet. The simple way to check is just look along the track & if it bends outwards over the last 3 inch's or so it will need shortening. I will be uploading photo's in a few days. There are also two types of metal gearbox. The slim one which has grey metal gears or the one i have which are 1& half inch's wide and have brass gears. There is no problem with the slim one as i have these in a tiger 1.
Hope this helps. Wolftone.

Hi Wolftone
Thank you for your help, can't check them at the moment. I know their
white ( gray ? ) metal not brass, as Dave " Forgebear " said if I had the brass
ones I would have had to alter the base to take them.
Look forward to see'ing your photos.

Hi there oldfeller. I thought about moving them on the base too. But it still was not enough clearance. I am running on metal tracks and sprockets and whether that makes the difference i don't know. Have lost (temporarily/in middle of packing house up for a move) camera to pc lead & haven't figured out how to upload to the site yet. Anyway, Hope all is going well with your own tiger. wolftone.

Hi Wolftone

Good luck with the packing and the move.
Hope you find the pc lead, I asked Saxondog how to down load
my photos.
Open up your photo that you want, right click on photo, then go into paint,
in paint click on " Image " the in drop down box click on " Resize ".
there two boxes which have 100 in, reduce these to 75, accept as chainged.
Hope it works, Saxondog did go into more detail than I have.

Have not heard from my Nephew yet, in Germany working last week and with a young
Family, " when he as the time he will do it for me ".
