hi guys i have bought an aisatam tiger hull i am try to decide wheather the mato tiger metal wheels are contpatible with aistam hull, has eneyone tryed this

The hull should of come with two sets of axles, these are designed to work with the Asiatam wheels,Early or late model wheels. Short axle late model wheels, long axles early wheels.

Now the axles are held in the control arms by a grub screw. The Mato metal wheels will not work if their the old style, I have a set and they not only do not work , but I gave away a set for free,they suck.

Here is what will work, remove the grub screws. Then tap the control arms to 3.5mm x 1.00 pitch. Now you have an axle that will work with any set of wheels, I ran the H/L stock wheels for a few months then I mounted the Early model rubber lined wheels from a WSN Tiger that another member had upgraded to late model wheels.

My point is if you tap the control arms you simply need to determine the length and buy the right size bolts. I use shoulder bolts from Durro,the wheels I have are mounted on a plastic inner bushing which rides on the shoulder of the bolts. Between the control arm and the wheels I have a plastic washer and the wheels are tight, do not wobble and have run over a year with no problems.

This works for me, and if you want metal wheels Dave offers a set that should work with the Asiatam axles or the method I have described. Let me know if I can help you sort this out. cheers Blake

Or you could just get the Asiatam wheels and pop them on. They run quite well. Have bearings and rubber tires, Have the fitted to my Asiatam hull.

Johnf, Just curious as no one has really posted feedback on this arrangement and how stable the wheels are. Because of the early date I purchased the hull the wheel set for early model wheels was more costly than the hull and gearbox together, this was my motivation to tap my control arms and fit first the stock plastic wheels and then the early WSN wheels which have bushings and are rubber lined as well.

the aisatam hull arrived with 1 set of axles, the mato wheels that forgebear is selling are they for an early tiger or a later version im no expert,im not sure of the diffrance ? from what i can see mato seem to be a one part wheel not 2 part ?
the siastam wheel seem a bit pricey to me but i like the look of the wheels from forgebear.
dose any konw what the id of the mato road wheels

I have them fitted for a while now. Seem quite stable. I had one wheel jumping a bit but only on grass. Took it off and found the bearing was a little stiff. I have lubed a bit since and seems OK now but have not retested on grass yet. This my first RC tank so do not know how it compares to others. They have not come loose. Rubber still in good order. I have also added some extra weight as you did. Weighing in at 8.3 kg now which is about 18 lbs. On the issue of adding a fan. I am using an Elmod board and nothing seems to heat up. Is it just the Heng Long boards that need fans?
The only problem with the set of wheels is that I have not seen any spare wheels available. I am thinking of putting up a post to see how many people are using this set of wheels and maybe get a set to split up and sell one of each wheel. Might be good to have a spare and in the meantime can be used as an accessory on the tank.

The RX18 needs a fan if the larger motors are installed, the other issue is the gearbox ratio of 3/1 makes the motors work less so the amps and heat are less. My RX18 came from RCCOMMAND with the small fop fan, I mounted it raised and added the large bottom fan.

This can never be a bad idea but it is a little over kill, still I can strain my tank and not worry about the overheating issue.

As this issue effects ELMOD I must admit I know very little about ELMOD systems, and cannot offer a opinion.

The Elmod won't need a fan, they are designed to take something like 150 degrees. What will kill an Elmod board is using the wrong motors. My Tiger weighs almost 14 lbs and runs 3:1 gearing on standard HL/Asiatam motors no problem.

Using more powerful motors may do more damage to the transmission if the tracks get tangled in grass. There is a list somewhere on Panzerketten in the Elmod section about which motors are ok, and which ones to avoid. Amps are the killer, as a stalled motor will pull large amps and melt the esc's. The high performance motors are usually the ones that cause problems.

I have 3:1 gearing. Not too sure about motors. Think they are fairly standard. Will post a picture later. One of my wheels was tripping due to a tight bearing or possibly not enough weight. Adding extra weight seems to give the road wheels extra space. Fuse seemed to trip out instantly. Think it's a ten amp fuse.

Elmod use 10 amp, so keep that in there.

Check for shorts on solder joints, motors, switches, and any cable joints. Also make sure that no bare wires are touching each other or anything metal. Heatshrink is the way to go.
