This 1/6th scale stuff is pretty awesome! Is there such a thing as any scale plans for a 1/6 scale Tiger in plywood or alloy (Alloooominum to my American cousins ;) ) As much as I want one there is no way I could spend as much on a tank as a classic car. Has anybody done any casting for their own tracklinks?
Ideas wanted as I'm sure I'm not the only one??????

I have a 1/6 scale metal hulled Tiger, I found it on display at a hobby shop in California, the company that make this tank is out of business and the display was static and the last one. UPS delivered it with some new detail added a fork lift truck has speared it and shattered the tracks and one drive sprocket for which I received very little in the form of compensation.

Steel dragons offers metal kits of many tanks, but not the Tiger, the offer a plastic version, but there kits are under a 1000us and can be upgraded to RC. i have considered working out a deal with them to use my tank as the example of a steel hulled tiger for market but have not heard much from them, the aluminum replacement drive sprockets are 250.00us Tracks are 600.00us

My tracks are made from a type of UHMW Plastic very hard and strong, I was able to use the turret spare tracks to repair the broken tracks, but have yet to replace the sprockets. If you would like to give it a go I could provide the pictures and you may find them acceptable to scale the tank for building.the upper hull is steel as well with detail parts glued on the surface. The turret is a type of molded fiber glass very hard and the detailing is fair.

I might have an HL hull i could play about with (strengthen/waterproof) for the 1/16th scale, also fancy doing a few mods like relocating switches, wiring turret MG etc. Only got access to brush at moment no airbrushes. Wanting to paint but struggling as very much in awe of the guys who can work a brush.

If you are doing a camo paint job a brush job would be accurate as well. I have seen pics of the real things being camo'd useing brushes, mops, even a bunch of branches with leaves on them. It all depended on what they had on hand to apply the camo. Also the colors varied depending on what they had to thin the concentrated paint with. Field applied camo schemes varried

Excellent observation pzrwest, they varied as you have stated and even with the support corp spray guns in the field it was a paint as you go situations. We often paint to neatly, I am the worst about being neat and clean in my paintwork where painting with a tooth brush would be more accurate.

Any new large scale projects pzrwest? cheers Saxondog

Check this link out, they make 1/6 scale tanks that are shipped in the flat with relief notches and scored lines so you can bend the hulls into the correct box like shape. But their Tiger is plastic. Except for the 7000.00 version which is aluminum. Sax

A few parts anyone could make with plasticard or some GRP and some patience. These were in need of some cleaning and detailing. The rear Fenders will need alot of detailing to get the hinges working and turning the gussets around but it has some descent details to work with.

I was sorry i didnt draw out the outlines of my armortel tiger. It would have been so easy to copy all the parts that make up the hull and deck. Even casting some spare wheels would be easy apart from the sprocket wheels,(sorry sax). It would be nict to haxe a spare one for photos. I think Armortek were selling plans to enable engineers to scratch build the panzer IV. The were some copies of these plans for sale recently. Many of the Panzer IVs on the Armortek forum are scratch builds from these plans. I will certainly think about this next time and maybe build one in plywood and aluminium.
