RC Tank Warfare community hobby forum

Hello all, I'm Paul aka Morph1155. I'm soo new to RC tanking that until I joined these forums (5th Oct) I didnt know that RC tanking was anything more than kids with toys....now I see its bigger kids with better toys

Anyway I've done some model tanks in the past 1:72 scale and such, and have done quite a lot of custom model building for warhammer 40k sci-fi style tanks. My passion is WW2 tanks and I'm still trying to take in the whole RC scene, so far I have nothing except a few youtube clips. I'm currently in the North Manchester area but in a couple of weeks I'll be in my new place in East Lancashire (thats United Kingdom for those not familiar with it)

The only question I have...and this is quite a broad question which is a lot to do with personal preference than anything but....my question is what is an ideal started tank for someone 'breaking in' to the hobby?

Hi mate it all depends on the depth of your wallet . My first tank was the Heng Long Tiger . Now starting this thread you will get the Heng Long V Tamiya question start . I personaly like Heng Long as I and others on here chop them up improve and alter them with all the after market upgrades . Or you can just run them as they are . I do have Tamiyas to and on a quality level they are a lot better . But this is reflected in the price . The Heng Long Pershing gets mentioned as a good start tank but ive never had one myself . But the Heng Long Tigers good as is the Panther G ( but make sure you buy the Panther G not the old what we call 'Pantiger') and then theres the smaller ones like the Pz.III and Stug III . Speak to Dave hes on here as Forgebear . Ive bought many from him and you get an excelent service .

...and to ad to what littletankman has already stated, you might want to consider the upgrades available for a particular model or if you have the ability to custom build components for one. Also, Where you chose to run your tank as a "carpet basher" doesn't need to be as bullet proof as one you plan to run out in the elements.

hi and welcome to the forum , for your first tank i would go hl over tamiya just incase this hobbies not for you , that way youve spent less money, and i would go for a PIII , great runner out of the box and again cheaper

Thanks for the welcome guys, and the advice....another question I have is...how do I find groups in my area. I understand there are meets and such...shows and all that to attend but how do I actually find them??
