The Action Man Scorpion Tank has been modified with cast resin and detailing parts that I have made. The wheels have been amended now. While I have been model making for a while r/c tanks is a bit of a learn on the job. I would like to make the gun to go up and down and the turret to rotate, so any help on that front would be appreciated.

Hi Iain thanks,
absolutely I have got a few under construction photos which I can put on here, but is there anything you particularly want to see? The Spartan is quite a rare beast.I've got one but can't bring myself to meddle with it.

I

an,
I've also done a similar conversion using the Scorpion but leaving it as a Scorpion with resin boxes that I have made but not r/c. Just doubled up on the sprocket and idler wheels. R/C wise the Scimitar uses three channels of my 6 channel radio. I am currently using two marine esc's I had going spare and a servo to enable the gun to go up and down. The gearboxes are standard Heng long and work fine although I am tempted to use a mixer esc from Action electronics in the future as I have a two channel Hi-tec unit as a spare. I have doubled up on the first set of driving wheels and fitted spacers on the others. I also fitted 1/8 wheel collets to hold the wheels in place from another hobby of mine. I also doubled up on what would be the sprocket wheel at the front. It seems to work ok without dropping a track even in a sharp turn.
If you've got an old Scorpion doing nothing in particular it's worth giving it a go, but not sure how it would work if you've still got the grey waxy tracks. Not well I expect.

After little activity on the Action Man Scorpion Tank conversion I have done a little on it recently. I've replaced the lower turret hatch with a resin replacement more in keeping with the type fitted to this type of tank and added wing mirrors and fire extinguishers. Next stage is to do some work on the periscopes and the top hatch before returning to the suspension and running gear. At the moment the ride is a bit like a go-kart.
I have also added photos of another conversion which is destined for the Yorkshire Yeomanry Museum.

The larger top hatch opening has been amended to take the new resin hatch that I have made. A plasticard infill fills the hole the white bit on the photograph. Still work to do though and the next job is to repair the hinges on the hatch so that it opens and closes properly. After that the next job is to amend the fixed hatch next to it so that they are a pair. I am going to cut off the domed top and replace with a plasticard, or a resin replacement item. Not sure if this will be an opening hatch, or not. A lot depends how I get on with the hinges on the other hatch. I am hoping to get a couple of 1/8 figures one driver and commander in the future, but the next stage is to sort out the suspension.

Just started fitting suspension to the tank and seems to be going ok. It certainly has plenty of travel anyway. Just need to finish this bit and then work on getting some suitable 1/8th figures.
