It seems as thought we are now in the same boat.

I shouldve researched a bit more before jumping in and I would probably have bought the Asiatam chassis to begin with.
I couldnt make up my mind as to which color scheem to go with for my first Tiger I so building both (one in dark yellow/one in two tone green "SS 13th pan div Kursk") would solve that problem.
Maybe the best thing is to try and build a tensioner for my HL chassis and to but new metal gear for my Asiatam but that will throw my WAY off budget on this project. LOL Don't tell the wife

Hello Wizzard,I have had the Asiatam hull well over a year and many upgrades along the way, I am willing to assist you if you could detail all the issues? Better yet let me jump in ,first the hull is designed to work with Asiatam wheels, the two sets of axles are for Asiatam early and late metal wheels.
That being said throw the out,I removed the grub screws from each control arm and used 3.5mm bolts.I tapped each arm,by doing these I was able to at first run H/L plastic wheels. The bolt method is very solid unlike the Asiatam axle which are held on by the grub screw alone and prone to coming loose. Late I was able to change my wheels to WSN rubber lined early wheels, but still retained the axle bolts, The bolts are from DUBRO and are common enough to find. The idler adjusters should work, but their is a post about locking them in so their is no flex and the tracks stay tight.
I will try to track down the build thread so you can reference them as you build up the hull, if you have specific questions PM me and I we try and help, I have had this hull for well over a year and it has never given me any problems. I am running Asiatam 3:1 gearboxes and Gruapner Speed 400 motors, a lot of power. cheers Saxondog

Sounds great Saxondog! Were you able to use the Mato tracks and idlers also? I guess most any 400 size motor would suffice? I have some brand new multiplex motors I never used that might be the ticket.

They will work but not a good idea if you have plastic gearboxes. Also check out the Fan Cooling the RX18 because the bigger motors pull more amps and the cooling prevents overloading the RX18 Control unit.
As for the Mato tracks and sprockets they should work if the drive sprockets match your gearbox shaft. I have not heard about them being an issue. The Asiatam hull is designed to work with Asiatam wheels but the gearboxes from a H/L will fit, but one mounting hole will have to be drilled. Not sure if it is right or left gearbox but you will see when mounting your gearboxes.
I would also like to point out this was my first Tank, and it was a progression of upgrades as I could aford the parts, but I did research the hull, I had a target tank as a example of my Tiger. But remember this, the hull and drive components will determine how your tank drives, and weather or not it drives correctly. My Tiger after the gearbox, motor, tracks and sprockets has run many hours for over a year without any problems.
So as you progress remember the drive system makes for a fun tank or a headache. As for the motors 400's work because the 3:1 ratio gearboxes reduce the strain on the motors, which keeps the amps the motors operate at lower. I will try to find and post the build thread of my Asiatam Tiger, cheers Saxondog

No problem wizzard, we are here to help and grow the hobby. I did not realize you were in Texas, their is a dealer in Dallas.
http://www.rccommand.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; His name is Bill. Are the gearboxes from MATO ? So what is the total package your working with?
Did you start with H/L Tiger, then the Asiatam Hull, 3:1 gearboxes, your 400 series motor, is this correct so far?

I didn't know RCcommand was in Dallas.
I frist bought the stock all plastic HL Tiger I with full intension of building it as a bullit proof model. What I didnt realize was that I should've just started from scratch. Now I plan to finish my Asiatam bullet proof build and I plan to modify the HL chassis as well.
I have an Asiatam chassis with Mato metal tracks, sprocket, and idlers. I also have Mato 3:1 brass gear boxes that should be here any day. I have several multiplex 400 motors I'm not sure if they would work or not.

I plan to go with the Elmod IR system and use a Futaba 9c for a radio.
I aso plan to purchase a set of early road wheels and top shell with Tamiya recoil this wee
.
